I'm not sure which came first this winter - my obsession with hibernating animals or finding the den cam. Go take a peek at Lily the bear and her cub, Hope, I'll wait right here. I hope you'll get a chance to visit them while they're still snoozing in their den. I wonder what it must be like to wake up one day and discover you'd become a mom while you were sleeping? That might be easier in some ways, though it must come as a bit of a surprise...
Lily had her cub, Hope, in January. Coincidentally, on my birthday...if there's anything to shared birthdays and personality traits, Lily may have her hands - er, paws, full. Give her crayons, Lily - that should keep her busy for awhile. Just drawing the little quilt on this cartoon in my journal, kept me busy for hours... I thought about sketching in a quilt for this next bear too - but as obsessive as I can get with these things, winter might be over completely by the time I finished it.
He won't really need a heavy quilt for long, since he'll be getting up soon, anyway. It's almost spring - hurray!
p.s. Thanks so much for all your good wishes on my last post. Even though I'm just the granny-in-waiting, I think I'm just as excited as the parents-to-be. I'll try to not obsess on it too much here - but if I gush every now and then, thanks in advance for bearing with me!
p.s.s. Did you know that all four seasons have exactly six letters? I didn't realize till I was drawing this little seasonal alarm clock. 'Summer' and "autumn" always looked longer to me than 'winter' and 'spring' - if you count them, they really are all the same length. But then February has the fewest number of days, and it seemed like the longest dang month too. Weird. Now 'weird' looks weird to me...Think I better stop for now, before it gets any weirder here. Happy almost-spring!
I'm amazed at the amount of detail you have in your pictures! I love the one in color but then the other one is just as cute. You do the BEST animals and whimsy and fairy tale pictures of anyone I know!!

Better not show that bear cam to my mum, I might never see her again...
"p.s.s. Did you know that all four seasons have exactly six letters?"
Your Jedi mind tricks won't work on me.

How fun to share a birthday with Lily's cub. It was fun looking in the den cam.
I like looking at the illustrators cam too.

I was asleep when my oldest son was born. They put me out, and I didn't know I'd given birth till six hours later--a perverse practice that never happens anymore, as far as I know. But maybe that explains my affinity for the sleeping bear you captured so gorgeously in your drawing.
