February has been filled with family, food, fun & flu (not necessarily in that order). Also, home improvement projects (which I can't think of a family-friendly "f" word for...frantic? frenzy? That'll do...). And odd computer woes in between (thank you to TypePad for working on helping fix their parts - but there was a lot of wonkiness going on, in addition to that. I felt like Alice during much of this month - if Alice were in the Outer Limits, that is...). So though I did check in on FB, when I could, I'm sorry to have missed out on things in the blogworld. Not that I had much computer playing time, anyway, though.*
Through most of the month, I've either been on a ladder - plastering, sanding, painting -- or cheering *cough, cough* on from the couch, while K did his ladder time. BUT, we now have the better part of the dining room ceiling now redone AND a long, overdue new ceiling light, in place. A combined, birth-aversary/Valentine's gift for us, from us - it is so pretty and seems to sprinkle twinkling fairy light all around the room. It's of the five glass tulip-votives style, on a pewter-base. Sort of a vintage, cottage look..Which I'll have to leave to your imagination for now. I'd show it to you, but I don't have everything back in place and the curtains hung up again, yet - and also, I'm going to have to figure out how to photograph things under these new lighting conditions, as the light seems to be everywhere, except directly under it. It does cast a lovely light, though...
Do you remember passing out Valentine's to everyone in class? With heart-shaped cookies and little conversation hearts, following...Making a Valentine for your Mom with red construction paper and white doilies...I loved all that. That's really the image Valentine's Day still conjures up for me, moreso than all the commercial, romantic hype. Just homemade love for those with a home in your heart...
So here's a Valentine for you from my golden oldies file (vintage '96, I think - I can't read the date, anymore, let alone am I sure if could paint nearly that tiny, now...This is only about 3x5, but I remember it dating from around the time when I was painting for the Mouse House, a local gift shop - sadly gone away, though remembered fondly).
Sending love to all of you and wishing you whatever makes your heart happy, today and everyday.
<3 Happy hearts! <3
*p.s. Even though Typepad fixed it so I can actually SEE my own blog & comments on here, again (Thank you, Typepad team!) - I'm still not able to post comments for some unknown reason, on many (actually MOST) blogs, except for a few that have their own platform. Either word verification letters don't show up so I can't type them in - or even if there ISN'T a word verification and I type a comment, it just seems to disappear into space. Gone. Zip. No 'comment moderation' notice or anything like that...Just. Gone. So please forgive me for not commenting, till I can get this figured out. Has anyone else been having problems? If you have any idea as to what might be going on, please let me know. This is just. plain. weird...I'm still here, though and still reading your posts. Meanwhile, please don't give up on me!
p.s.s. Okay, Typepad comments seem to be working again. Now, if only Blogger comments would cooperate...
Happy Valentine's Day Tinker... I've been noticing that word veris aren't showing on first attempts on blogger blogs... but they do show for me on the second attempt... usually....
Glad you've a new light to see by
