You know, sometimes it's hard to think with this arrow through my head!
So, I'm hanging up my junior reporter press badge (it kind of pinched anyway). I'm leaving the hard news to the professionals who work hard at it. (Though I still wish we could get a little more coverage of events - as they're unfolding - out here in the wilds of San Bernardino). (grumble, grumble)
Robert of Celsius 1414 fame, was kind enough to point my arrowhead towards an excellent site for tracking our local disasters. In case you didn't have a chance to read his comment on yesterday's post, here is the link he recommended (it seems to be overloaded right now - when I tried it the server was taking to long to respond; but I was able to view the page earlier; so wait a bit and try again, if you're having the same problem). I've bookmarked it so I can find it easily next time (and unfortunately, there's bound to be a next time), there's another local fire/flood/other acts of God taking place here.
I've also added a little to the Canyon Crest post - some of the information was unavailable at press time (ok - I know; I hung up my press badge! Can't I pretend just a little?). Well, actually, it was more like one of the pages from my little handy-dandy junior reporter notebook went missing. Possibly when I was digging frantically through my bag the other day for my lip balm (another reason why I'm not cut out for the life of a news reporter! Dry lips. So I'll just stick to soft, warm and fuzzy topics. Mostly.) I seem to have wandered off the point again, if I had one...ah! yes - anyway, there's a little more info on the small businesses in Riverside's Canyon Crest now.
One last thing: This picture isn't a report. Just one citizen's observation. This was the view as of 11:00 this morning, looking east from Sunset Drive in Redlands, past Crafton Hills, towards Highway 38 (the road starting up towards Big Bear at the east end of the San Bernardino valley).

Think good thoughts about our firefighters. They really earn their
paychecks around here.
I'll say those firefighters earn their paychecks! Wow!
