This is one of my favorite places to refuel when window shopping at the Mission Inn, in downtown Riverside. It's open for breakfast and lunch only, but the bread and pastries are as fresh as can be - there's always something in the case at their deli and bakery counter that I just have to taste - this ginormous cheese danish is an example:

Place your order at the counter, then there's booth seating indoors, and tables outside, as well as take out. If it's lunchtime on a weekday, the line forms fast, so get there early. But even if you don't, service is usually pretty quick.
Open Mon through Fri, 7 am to 5 pm (breakfast avail. till 10:30 am.), Saturdays, 7:30 am to 5 pm (breakfast avail. till 11 am). Though they stop serving meals at 4 pm, the cafe is still open till 5 pm, for those who've already ordered or if you just want a coffee or pastries.
