I love a movie that can create the illusion of another time and place, and make me believe in its story.
This had a darn good storyline and - I mean this next statement in the best possible way - it reminded me of the old classic movies I'd watch on Sunday afternoons when I was a kid (yes! they did have TV then, even in Color! well, actually everyone else had color TV - we had a black & white one, till I was in sixth grade and the old classics were mostly in black & white anyway, so it didn't seem so bad)...but here I go digressing again.
The Illusionist has all the earmarks of a classic movie in the making, starting with the storyline; the romance, the mystery... I'm really afraid to talk about it too much; I don't want to spoil the illusion! Let's just leave it at this:
The Illusionist is my favorite thing this Saturday.
It inspired me to make this little collage. Well, Ed Norton may have had a little something to do with that inspiration, too :)
Oh! I loved that movie, too!

I think I'll enjoy this movie again and again. Even knowing the ending, I imagine I will find something new to appreciate at each viewing. Sixth Sense had much the same impact on me. As did The Game. I guess I love illusion.
