These two Namelians just landed tonight - they're from the planet Tinkering, in the constellation Arttourist. They come in peace, so they'd just as soon skip the whole "meeting your leader" bit, as they're underwhelmed by bureaucratic diplomacy. However, in the spirit of cultural exchange, they wouldn't mind a small bit of chocolate, especially the dark kind, with a truffle-y center. Sprinkles would be nice, too - though they are not necessary to sustain their life form - however, it would be a nice gesture, as these are considered a delicacy on their planet. :-)
Caroline tagged me for a fairly new meme that involves doodling your name twice (instructions can be found here.), then turning the result into an alien life form - a Namelien. This is actually an art exercise this teacher does with his students - lucky kids to have such a creative teacher!
I thought I'd show you what the 'bones' looked like before I doodled too far on it:
I had so much fun doing it, I was glad I'd scanned in the 'exo-skeleton' so I could turn it around and try one the other direction!
(You can click on the thumbnails here on this side of the page, to examine the namelians under your microscope :)
I also discovered through this exercise, that Tinker backwards, spells "re-knit" - never thought about that before - but as I'm usually very slow (and not very skilled) at needlework, it does seem appropriate :-)
This was such fun to do, that I can't just name a few to do it - I hope everyone gives it a try! Let me know if you do it - I'd love to see what your Namelian looks like.
I've been trying to decipher their language to find their names - I've discovered that, appropriately enough, since they arrived during my season of Finding Water, their names are Eb and Flo. Now I'm off to find them some chocolate for a welcoming banquet in their honor.
So go in peace now, and try creating your own Namelian.
Be good - phone home.
Nano-nano!
She's been going at warp speed, I cannae stop the engines now, Captain!
Dammit, Jim, I'm a doctor not an editor - She's dead, Jim!
*crackle*~ Houston - we have a problem... *crackle*crackle*hiss*
HAL - open the pod doors, and let me out...
Live long and prosper -
Over and out...
We now return control of your television set, er - computer monitor - till the next time we visit the Outer Limits of the Twilight Zone...
These are so cool! I may have to try it. Be sure to enjoy some of that chocolate with them. I hear they are offended if you don't.

I love that you did them both ways!
And yes they show quite different characters... one seems quite spiritual and up and the other alittle down in the mouth... I'm sure that is just the lack of chocolate...
Oh I do hope some other people do try them - they are fun!

Eb and Flo are very interesting little Namelians. I'll have to see if any of their cousins are lurking around my blog. I have to go now....no chocolate in the house, and I want to be prepared.

Tinker, that is SO COOL!!! I may have to try that soon.
My fav sci-fi quote:
"We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile. We are the Borg."

That is too cool! I would have never figured it out on my own! HUGS

I'm working on it. It's much harder than it would seem to do it backwards, though!
Wasn't there an artist who wrote his daughter's name, "Nina" into everything he did? This reminds me of that.

Well, I guess it would help if I read the instructions, first!!!!!!!

"Bad llama! Now go over there, in the corner. Now lie down - I mean it!
Judie - I'm so sorry! That darn llama - I've been thinking he needs somewhere bigger to roam - I think I'll send him to a nice big place in the country...
Look at all these comment repeats - there's a terrible echo in here today, isn't there?

What fun! Reading this was the most fun I've had in the blogosphere for some time. Might just have to go and see if I can find some of my own nameliens lurking out there somewhere! Sounds like at good excuse to go buy some chocolate for one thing!

These little guys are taking over, how weird I have just come from another site who is showing one of these, her friend got it off a guy called Steve who is a teacher. Isn't it amazing how things fly round cyberspace. I am going to try to do one.

So, I did finish Thirteen Moons. I loved the first half and then I thought his editor should have made him cut 100 pages! But it was worth reading, I think.

Daisy - the teacher I linked to above is actually named Steve - so that's probably the same guy. Cyber world's smaller than we realize, lol.

These are so fun I just have to do some. I LOVE your post...and I actually got to see it and now comment -woohoo for visualizing computer speed!
You are about to enter another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land of imagination. Next stop, the Twilight Zone!
XOXO
Love,
Lisa
