Things I've been doing this week:
-the dinosaurs out in Cabazon, again, while we were out there at the orchard stand, hunting dried fruit (K. wants to make fruit cake! I thought I was nutty enough...)
-the bajillions of windmillls whirring around and around, out by Palm Springs
-bajillions of bikers, heading out there for a biker rally
-my partner in crime, when we met up for lunch and goofing off
-my grandgirls, when we met up for lunch and goofing off, on another day
-'Miss Potter,' three times (if you include the director's narrated version - which I eventually muted and watched silently). Cried all three times, and I knew what was coming, because we saw it in the theater. Tried to take a picture of my favorite scene...nerd
-Old Town with K.
-that John CukeOr Melonplant, is most likely going to grow up to be a winter watermelon
-a leaf heart on my morning glory
-an old Thorne Smith book in the used book store - his last one, published posthumously - that was completed by someone else (it did end up coming home with me - 'The Passionate Witch' is my Halloween treat to me)
-pumpkins and Halloween decorations sprouting up everywhere - altar decor for Dia de los Muertos, here and there
-a delicious Mediterranean veggie melt sandwich (sauteed eggplant slices with mushrooms, bell peppers, and sundried tomatoes on toasty wheatseed bread with mozzarella melted all over it). Mmm.
-the grapes off Patti's plate (well, she offered! Somehow I think they tasted better than if they'd been on my plate though...)
-cheesy enchiladas with my grandgirls.
-a soupcon of every sample they had set out at Hadley's. Every variety of dates, plus pepitas, and baked peas (much tastier than you might think). The pepitas were my favorite though.
Touching:
-the leaves, wood and the earth, as I play pick up sticks, with all the twigs that have come down in the periodic winds. Despite the splinters in my fingers, still more leaves and twigs are on the ground - the wind is ahead in the game
--an ostrich egg, can't believe how heavy they are - poor mama ostriches
--scissors, glue, newspapers, magazines and ads - cutting them up and collaging in my journal
--pencil and paper, sketching in my journal
--caran d'ache water soluble crayons, scribbling in my journal
--the cats cuddling up, now that the nights are cooler
--K., as the cats and I cuddle up, now that the nights are cooler
Smelling:
--my little pink miniature roses, which have decided to bloom again
--the smoke from the neighbor's fireplace, one night that was cool enough
--the most delicious barbeque smell when we were in Old Town, which we could not track down to its source. We finally settled on a restaurant, that was near the epicenter of the aroma, but though the food was good - that wasn't it - the mystery smell.
--the clean soapy smell on K's neck and beard, when I hug him
--all of the wonders of the world caught up in my grandgirls' hair when I hug them
--the bells ringing at the Mission Inn
--a cuckoo clock in a gift shop
--music...some oldies - Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, CCR, Peter Paul and Mary (someone parked by me was actually playing it - but I was actually listening and enjoying it), George Winston, some even older oldies, like Segovia and Billie Holiday; and some others playing some real oldies, like Beethoven
--the cats meowing in anticipation, because they heard someone almost touch the can opener, when sorting through the utensil drawer
--the neighbor boy practicing his violin; he's getting better - I can almost catch the tune, now
--laughter - my grandgirls', my daughters', my friend's, my husband's, my own
Doing:
--for the moment - just feeding my soul
*You can click on any of the little pictures, to see them bigger, if you want to...
Tinker,
These are incredible; what a great job you did!

What a lot of amazing stuff! Sensory overload! An ostrich egg -- how cool. I've never held one. And Miss Potter, that reminds me to put it on the Netflix queue!

Sometimes late at night or like now~first thing in the morning I do a little visual blogging ~ this is when I visit my friends just to "be" with them. I look at their blog as a whole and sometimes read an entry, but rarely comment~
Do you ever do that?
You feed my soul.
Just what I wanted and needed.
Thank you!
XO,
Melba

You are doing too much at once. Slow down. It is making some of us look bad. (Not me, I am a man of constant action.)

Delicious juicy soul food ...you've got the recipe baby! Love it. Did you go to Hadleys? I always stop there when I go past the windmills. Like the dinosaurs and Pee Wee Herman too...heh heh

Yes we did go to Hadleys, and I know what you mean, Gemma - I used to, too.
