A little tale and art from my journal:
Despairing of the words ever coming to her, she flung her pen down upon the desk. Storming to the coat rack, she then donned her scarf and her cloak, and ran out the door.
Once outside, she looked to the sky, where she saw strange, billowing clouds forming...she shivered, but stood transfixed.
A storm was brewing.
The leaves from the trees trembled in the wind, and shook loose, taking flight.
Little did she know, it was not just a rainstorm or a thunderstorm, nor even a windstorm that was coming, taking shape before her eyes.
It was not just any garden variety storm, it was a word storm.
She laughed and she danced in delight, as all of the words she'd been looking for in dictionaries and hunting in the thesaurus, stalking in reference books of all sorts began to drift and blow past her. Now she knew why she hadn't been able to find them earlier. They had been outside all this time. Here they were now, written on the leaves raining down, blowing about in the wind.
She only had to hold out her hands to catch them - so she did.
On Wednesday morning the word count had been 8,081. As of Thursday night: 14,213. Thank heavens, for word storms that quench the drought.*
Word Storm
Mixed Media. Cut newspaper and page from an old book that was falling apart into shapes. Smeared on stamp pad inks for most of the color, and added aquarelle pencil details.
Collaged on 11" x 8-1/2" journal page in a Mead Academie sketchbook.
Visit Leah, to see all the wonderful art she and other's are creating for Art Everyday Month.
*Who knew raking leaves could result in solving troublesome plot points? We may end up with a clean yard, yet...
Ah Tink. Your story is delightful and bares your soul. The words are in you and I will be reading your novel one of these days. I visited Leah too, and now I am sad becuz I have not been doing a lot of art lately. Life just seems to get in the way of creativity sometimes. I dislike it, but what can one do when necessity rules? Keep on wording! xoxoxo

I stormed right over when I realized "they" let you back out to play. Your story and the woman catching her words in the storm are beautiful. Do you know Marita over at Southern Valley in the Netherlands? She is experiencing a different kind of storm today. http://southernvalley.typepad.com/
Have a Happy Day. Hope you will get to Tinker around a Ton!

I think you must stand in that storm all the time because your words are always so inspiring, so interesting, and so perfect. The artwork is wonderful. I love how you used words to create it.

Good for you, tinker, for having your word storm, illustrating it, and writing about it as well! Cheers and love to you, O

Wow! Six thousand words in a day?!
I'd be swept away and never seen again.

Thank you Judie - your words always encourage me. Hope you find some creative time for you, soon!
Constance, it's hard to believe 'they' let me out, but I'm so glad they did, so I could read your words again. I just checked in on your friend Marita - I'm so glad she's ok, and that you pointed me her way - her work is beautiful!
Thank you, Janet, for your always kind words - though it was lovely to find a 'word storm' when I needed it - I don't know if I could handle it all the time - it actually was a little overwhelming having so many words come rushing at me, all at once, trying to pin them down on the computer before they all blew away again. As it is, I think one or two might have blown away before I could capture them.
Thank you, Olivia - I think you must be living in a 'word tunnel' the words just keep swirling in - but that's a good thing, you will have that book written soon - I hope to read it some day!
Gillian, thanks - don't worry, I'll share my umbrella with you :) I always love when you visit.
Thanks for your kind words, Robyn - hope
you find some creative time for you.(hug)
Pacian, really it was 36 hours or so, between Wed morning and Thursday night - so 3,000 on Wed and a little over that again on Thursday, really wasn't that much - except when I compare it to how little I had done before that.
I think you would probably fare pretty well - I've read some of your Sunday Scribbling stories, and I think you've already weathered some word storms of your own!

Terri, bravo! Your art is fantastic, as is your idea of a word storm! And you've obviously had a brainstorm, producing so much in such a short time. Hooray for you and your amazing creativity! Keep going; you'll get there! xoxox

Oh perfect! What a great idea/happening! Isn't nature quite the helper when it comes to regathering one's self or one's thoughts?! And I love the collage. Leah has tuned me into collages and words in collages (as has Karen from Art in the Garage) and I have truely come to love them in art. I flail away at using them - but not yet. I have to offer more enticements, I guess.
Perhaps I'll take your lead and wander out for a walk - I need to write some articles and for whatever reason go completely blank when I try. I can blog everyday and it simply is NOT the same thing. Isn't that funny?
That word count is quite a jump - you go girl!

Write, write like the wind and let your wonderful words be the kind of storm that swirls about you in an exciting fervor. I LOVE how you write!!!
Cheering you on and sending over a big hug and some love and a nice cup of tea!
XOXOXO
love,
Lisa
