Ending 2007 on a happier note, we spent our traditional New Year's eve with our friends, Dave and Jenny, chatting, nibbling goodies (I'm really wondering if there was a secret addictive ingredient in the artichoke/jalapeno dip - it was almost irresistible), watching Stardust (love that movie), and toasting the New Year in with some bubbly, good friends, and cute, cuddly dogs.
This New Year's eve I didn't focus my camera on much of anything/one, except briefly on Samson here - who was ringing in the New Year in style - I tried to focus on Maggie the other cuddly lab at the party, but she was too busy being the social butterfly to give me much of a photo op.
This photo of Jen with her cool Christmas tree, was actually taken a couple of weeks ago at their Christmas party. I wish I had gotten a close-up of some of the ornaments - in addition to the pretty vintage ones she inherited from her grandma, there were others that she'd made by altering those little fiberboard coasters that restaurants use - so creative. Her artwork's been in Somerset often now, as well as Belle Armoire and most recently one of her bears was in ArtDoll Quarterly. She made the art quilt hanging up in the background behind Samson, too. She inspires me with her talent, every time we visit. She's done a vision board the last couple of years - and they certainly seem to work, judging from the way her art has especially taken off since she started doing those.
I made a vision board a couple of years ago - but I think I tried to smoosh too much into it. I couldn't see the forest for all of the trees. Sometimes it seems like I just want to try to keep cramming just a little more in, till there's no elbow room...so that's one of the things I want to resolve this year. To try to focus on what's really important to me, and I think a new vision board might help with that... Something to help me visualize every day, what I want my life to look like. I'd like to try focusing not so much on the little details of what needs to be fixed, as much as to see the 'bigger picture' of how I want it to look overall. Then maybe that will help the little pieces to fall into place. It seems worth a try - it sounds good in theory, anyway...
Here I've gone again, trying to cram too much into one post, when I've already given the big picture of our evening - so I'll leave it at this:
Wishing all of us a safe and healthy, creative and prosperous, happy New Year!
(still managed to cram a lot into that line, anyway, didn't I? ah well, it's a learning process... :)
And a happy, happy, art-and-heart-filled 2008 to you!
Can I ask... is a vision-board like a treasure-map? - A collage of images of what we would like to manifest in our lives? Sounds like it's been very helpful for your friend.

I like the idea of a vision board! It's all part of the process and the positive thinking we need to accomplish our goals. Hope you realise many goals in 2008. Lovely photos of Jen, the tree and the dog. Sounds like a happy celebration! xoxox

Vision board, eh? Sounds like a great idea, but far too organised for the scrappy, poorly-motivated likes of me.

Forgive me I'm playing catch up! Love this post and we definately are looking for the same resolve. I want to simplify and focus I think. Make " Less is more" my motto! Vision
board sounds excellent. I think yours was probably a metaphor. I think mine would be sparse....that could be my problem.. Amazing what we learn when we reflect! Another cozy post, love the puppy...well I call them all puppies!!
