Photo-blogging this week, through rose-colored glasses...
First there were raindrops on roses (it is so hard to not follow that line with 'whiskers on kittens' - but I'm resisting - well, sort of... :-)
Followed by hail - the roses were even less picturesque afer that, though...
Though by the time it was over, the plants were all the happier, for all the moisture. Rosy little things seemed to be popping up all over - like the first radishes to come out of the garden and onto the table...
Despite the wacky weather, even little visitors around here have been in the pink...
And at a party for a young friend (with a rosy future ahead of her), even the icing on the cake was all pretty in pink. Though it was pouring that night too, thankfully, no one left the cake out in the rain...
- sorry about that one - moving right along....
Lately, the motto around here, seems to be 'think pink.'
Or at least try to keep things as rosy as you can -
Though if Mother Nature has her way, she may color outside the lines, and have 'em both - rosy red AND pink - shocking! But then She can carry it off...she seems to get away with all kinds of things - especially lately.
From 100 degrees one weekend, to half that or less, the next...Rain, hail, etc, et cetera - almost had us wondering if we'd end up somewhere over the rainbow, trying on ruby red slippers, the way things were going there, for a little bit. K was looking at this in person, while putting a small fortune gas in the jeep. Glad I didn't know about it at the time - especially how close he was to it - I was worried enough by the weather I was seeing - gushing thunderstorms and hail in May, are unusual enough for our corner of the country...but a tornado?! I don't mean to complain though - just a little shocked surprise -- I know we're so lucky, compared to so many other places...
Thankfully, now we're back to blue skies, sunny with a cool breeze - picture perfect weather again - and just in time, for an outdoor wedding - one I seem to somehow have promised I'd help set-up and decorate for - and do the flowers - from my garden -- and help make potato salad - for 200...so I better still keep those rose-colored glasses handy, just in case, for the next couple of days...
In case you're wondering, the radishes, boysenberries, etc, are home-grown - but the strawberries are storebought - despite my cheering for all things rosy, ours are still green...though they should be blushing rosily soon...at least, I hope so! This batch is almost gone...
Tinker, We had that 50 degree dip in tempature here too. Fromm 110 to 60 degrees in the same week.
Gee what do I wear??? It has settled again and is back to hot!I have those kind of glasses too.
Love you
xx

This weather is changing and these strong storms are frightening.
Your images of cherries and strawberries and red glasses just SING summer to me!

Love your sense of humor and all the song references. We have had the same crazy weather here. One day I've got the a/c running and the next day it's the heater! But we didn't get a tornado, thank goodness. I grew up in the Midwest and don't want anymore of those storms!

those are your roses too?!! I'm jealous! Also of all your goodies. My basil is just peaking through and 3 of my tomatoes have 2nd leaves. We are still cool for this time of year and I have been manic out in the yard with my lovely rocks and transplanting and separating and replanting. It's been lovely - but the mosquitos announced themselves today, so it can still be ovely but it'll also require stinky bug spray. As always your posts make me smile and laugh - thanks for the uplift!

A tornado is pretty scary... glad you weren't in the centre of it.
I've been trying to resist putting the heating back on here - no point in adding to global warming is there? But I have got very cold toes!
Love your produce - it looks delicious.

Ok!! I'm back! What a mainly rosy post, all except for that Tornado and hail part!
The wedding you are helping with sounds heart felt. Like a real wedding! The best kind. It touches me that you are going to give all of your love and homegrown roses and flowers & potato salad. Can't think of a nicer gift!

Hello dear Tinker, those radishes just glow... as do your collage of photos of all things beautiful bursting in your garden (and the strawberries you found)! That is a lot of potatoes, but made by your hand, will be a treat for those gathered! Here's to the rainbow spectrum that makes our gardens grow! XO

Definitely pretty in pink and red!!! Nothing nicer than radishes fresh out of the garden. I rarely buy them but do love them from the garden! Fun post, our weather is odd too!
