Hello. I don't know what happened to the third and fourth...? But now it's the - fifth?! December seems to be flying by - on ice skates. Or maybe that's just because I have a fascination with the new outdoor skating rink, in the next town over - they just put it up for this month only. That's where I spotted the little sweater girl dog the other day.
I love to watch other people ice skate, even though, with or without skates, ice and I don't seem to mix all that well. Add ice to my world, and I tend to end up shaken not stirred. But still I like to dream about what it must be like to figure skate (in the ice skating movie in my head, the part of 'me skating' is usually played by Dorothy Hamill - we did share the same hairstyle once upon a time - back around the Bicentennial...she looked much better in it).
I think figure skating must feel like a cross between dancing and flying. Although very hard and extra cold when you miss those landings.
Our little spectator visit to the ice rink apparently inspired these polar bears. They're still a WIP...their ice needs more work, and I'm still trying to decide if I want to colorize them - but since the other little bits of stuff I've got in progress are gifty, I thought I'd bring this to show & tell...
I know it's kinda mushy, but I like how they're looking all lovey-dovey at each other. I think they might be about to hold paws - or rub noses. Maybe ice wrestle. Hard to tell with polar bears...
In case you're wondering, I don't have a good explanation for why they would need clothes and hats, but aren't wearing mittens or ice skates....but somehow it made sense at the time I was drawing it, that polar bears would skate bearfoot.
I'll stop going on and on about skating - for now. Never know when somethin' will set me off on another tangent...
OMG! The polar bears are great! They're definitely in love! You captured that adoring look on their faces. I love how your imagination plays and then how you're able to put it down on paper so perfectly.

I don't think it's mushy, it's sweet. I love their faces. It reminded me of illustrations in the Little Bear books. Their coats add a timeless element to it.
