When we went for a picnic on Valentine's Day, I was reminded of this little drawing I doodled the night before our anniversary last month. I was hooked on dreaming up animal dreams there for awhile - I keep getting sidetracked before I can share them all - now I'm trying to get back on track. But then maybe everything happens for a reason - I wouldn't have known all of the story this drawing was trying to tell if I'd shared it back when I first drew it... I was thinking about odd couples while I was drawing this one.
We were at the table, discussing how to celebrate our anniversary (on a limited budget) the next day, when I got lost in thought (that happens a lot - one thought leads to another, till before I know it, I'm off in my own private lala land...). K tried to bring me back to the planet - and the discussion - by gently touching my hand and asking me what I was thinking about. I'm sure most men would have expected to hear, "What we should have for dinner for our anniversary -" or even, "Oh, just remembering our wedding day..."
It seems a measure of how oddly suited we are for one another, that when I answered with, "I'm thinking about a duck dreaming he's Gene Kelly in 'Singing In the Rain,'" - K just patted my hand and replied, 'That's my girl..." I may be a bit of an odd duck, but he loves me anyway. I'm a lucky duck, I know...
Valentine's Day seemed to continue the odd couple theme. It was bright and sunny, so we took some sandwiches and fruit down to the park, where we sat on the bench and watched the ducks a-courtin' while we ate. The birds of a feather
and the ones where opposites seemed to attract.
Then the day went to the dogs. Literally. A whole family pack of hot dogs came to visit.
And their happy furry family. (they take after dad's side, don't they? though they have their mom's ears, I think...).
Her? Him? wha - how -- ?
We looked at each other, laughed and shrugged.
The differences don't matter as much as you might think. With love you can make most anything work.
Love finds a way...
Yes, love always finds a way.
Just like dinosaurs!

You have a nifty husband. And your "thoughts" are most enchanting. No wonder you get along so well. By the way. Where do you live Tinker. While the rest of the country is buried in snow, you picnic in what looks like a mini paradise of color and warmth.

That's true....love finds a way. Your picnic/day dreaming sounds like a fun day. Isn't it great when your hubby actually "gets" you! Mine knows I'm crazy but he loves me anyway!!
