Catching Up To December

The past few months have been busy, with a lot - for usual homebody, me -- of traveling to and fro the northwest, so most of my making art has been in sketchbooks and little 3x5 moleskines, that are easy to carry in my purse. At least it keeps me making art of some sort, nearly every day. Here are a few from along the way. Most of them are watercolor and watercolor pencil, in that 3x5 pocketbook size I carry with me everywhere. Though I do have sketchbooks of different sizes at home and tuck in new ones, here and there.

Draw Wings, seems to have been a theme, going on for me, this year...  

The pencil sketch of me holding it, should give you an idea of just how small they are. Fits in the palm of my hand, which makes it really easy when sketching on location or just to fill in a moment while waiting at an appointment or ordering tea. Or with a cat taking up most of my lap :/ . 

The smaller size has helped me get more comfortable with drawing in public. People aren't as inclined to look over your shoulder - and it makes it much easier when sketching with someone at a small table in a cafe, which I really enjoy doing with my Northwest daughter, when I'm up there. 

I tried working primarily in pen for #Inktober and made a video of the 31 little drawings, that I posted on Facebook, but still figuring out how to get that from the phone to the blog. I love my blog and can't see giving it up - but it's so much easier to connect to everything through my phone (still hurts to use the mouse for very long), so I seldom am on the actual computer. Unfortunately, it's easy for me to connect through the phone for everything Except the blogs. Hopefully, in the New Year I will master the phone to blog connection.

Still have bigger sketchbooks going too. I've been working small, so often, it's good to remember how to go big again, every now and then.

I think I actually liked this Christmas-y one better in its gray scale pencil sketch stage, but felt it needed some color for the holidays. C'est la vie! Still had fun doing it, though the cardinal and the sparrow were giving me fits for awhile. I kept reminding them (and me), this was the season of peace, till they finally smoothed their feathers and settled down on their holly branch. If only the real world could easily do the same...

Loved every single piece of your tiny art. So delicate and detailed. I have missed your posts. Re the phone to blog video....hint: phone/video to Instagram soooooooo easy.
